Well it is official, according to metservice, August 2019 had the most rain days ever recorded in a month – a whopping 29 days. So as you can expect trying to build a new school during this time has proven to be extremely frustrating and difficult.
We had high expectations that we were going to move into the new buildings during term 4 2019. Based on the current programme of works this is now highly unlikely. Decmil are constantly adjusting and readjusting the programme and building methodology to try and complete the project as soon as possible.
I heard a rumour that the School Contractor is in liquidation. This is not the case.
Stanley Construction, who were a subcontractor to Decmil (our contractor), went into liquidation on Thursday last week. Here is a link to an article on the Stuff Website https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/115579344/auckland-construction-firm-liquidated
There were a number of builders on our site who were employed by Stanley Construction. On Thursday, when the news broke, Decmil entered into negotiations with the builders who were effected by the liquidation and they are now contracted directly to Decmil.
So it is business as usual on our project as they push hard to get the school completed.
