Free – Incredible Years Attentive Parenting Programme

The RTLB Cluster 7 is pleased to offer the Incredible Years – Attentive Parenting Programme to parents on Waiheke Island.

The Attentive Parenting® program is a 7 week group-based “universal” parenting programme. This is one of the Incredible Years Parenting Programmes which focuses on foundational parent skills.

This Course is suitable for parents of children 4-8 years old, to promote their children’s emotional regulation, social competence, problem solving, and following instructions and routines. It is designed to help parents gain confidence in the use of positive behaviour management strategies.

The course is funded by the RTLB Service with no cost to parents. Course materials are provided. Places are limited.

The course will be held at Te Huruhi School on Tuesday mornings each week for 7 weeks:

  • From: 9.30 am -12.00 noon
  • Dates: Starting in Term 3 on Tuesday August 2 and finishing on Tuesday September 13.
  • At: The Hall Meeting Room at Te Huruhi School (parking available)

  • Learning How to Strengthen Children’s Emotional Literacy with Books

  • Combining Emotion with Persistence Coaching for Uncomfortable Emotions
  • Using Pretend Play to Strengthen Children’s Emotion Learning

  • Using Pretend Play to Strengthen Children’s Empathy Learning

Programme Four: Attentive Social Coaching Promotes Children’s Cooperative Friendships

  • Modelling, Prompting and Giving Attention to Toddler’s Social Skills
  • Know How to Link Social Actions to Emotions
  • Using One-On-One Modelling and Prompting to Encourage Social Skills

Programme Five: Attentive Imaginative Parenting Interactions Promote Children’s Emotional Regulation Skills

  • Modelling, Prompting and Using Puppets to Practice Self-Regulation Skills
