Important Level 3 information for Te Huruhi

posted in: News

Kia ora koutou,

There have been three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Auckland.

As a result, the Government announced at 7pm that the whole of Auckland will move from Alert Level 1 to Alert Level 3 for the next 72 hours from midnight tonight.

That means that where possible you should keep your children home from school for this period.  We will be open for those of you who have no other options but to send your children to school and we will have safety precautions in place to look after them.

The only exception to this is that at Alert Level 3 students of workers can be onsite if absolutely necessary.

Parents and caregivers, please email our school office tonight if you fit this criteria.  [email protected]

We will need to plan to have enough staff members onsite.

Please make the subject line your child’s name and class for our reference.   We will be in contact tomorrow with further instructions for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Although this is for a short period, at this time we are activating our distance learning plan tomorrow morning, as we did when we have been in previous lock downs. First and foremost we want to stay connected to you and your Tamariki.

To keep it as simple as possible, staff will email three learning tasks before 9.00am tomorrow morning.  These can be done on a device or with pen/cil and paper. You will not be reliant on a device. Due to the very quick notice of moving to level 3, teachers will use tomorrow to get even more organised- especially as classes have only been back for four days.

COVID-19 continues to be a factor we need to consider, and I assure you we have a robust plan and will do everything we need to for your children and your wider family and whānau.

For those who are on-site, school bubbles of no more than 20 children/students may be formed (based on your replies) and will keep a 2-metre distance from other school bubbles that may form. Teachers will stay with the same school bubble of students where possible.

We had already planned to survey parents about devices and internet connection. This was going to be sent to you tomorrow regardless however,  we have now slightly amended it to make it more relevant to this situation.

Please complete it so we can support if this lockdown continues for a longer period.

If the situation changes, we will be in touch again. Please contact us if you have any concerns or questions.

Health reminders for Level 3
