Keeping Ourselves Safe Programme

posted in: News

This term our school is focusing on Keeping Ourselves Safe

Aim of the programme:

Keeping Ourselves Safe is a comprehensive child abuse prevention programme for schools. Its purpose is to:

  • teach students a range of safe practices that they can use when interacting with other people, both online and face to face
  • teach students how to recognise the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and encourage students who have been or are being abused to seek help
  • prevent abuse by making parents and teachers more aware of their responsibilities to help students avoid abuse.

We have Officer Tineke Laing from Auckland Police visiting in November to support us with our programmes around the school. She will be talking with children in the classrooms.  She is also offering a time for parents to come in and discuss the programme with her. This will be on the 4th and 5th of November during the day. Tineke will give you the opportunity to talk about the programme with her on Thursday 4th November at 8.30am.

Keeping Ourselves Safe is a valuable programme that helps our children learn how to make good choices and look after themselves. Please feel free to have a chat with Adam, Phil or your child’s teachers if you would like to find out more. If you would like you child to abstain from taking part in any of the programme, please let us know.
