The repair work is nearly complete in our school hall. During the past term, the entire building has been strengthened and the rot has been repaired in the front wall.
The school will have access to the hall and the kitchen for the remainder of the school year. The meeting room at the front of the hall is going to become the Decmil Construction office until the project is completed.
Demcil is going to be using this space because, during the next school holiday period, the classrooms they have been using are going to be knocked down to allow the completion of the outdoor space around the administration building and the Year 5 and 6 learning hub.
We are excited to get our hall back especially because we can continue our Garden to Table programme.
Notification of Demolition
Between the 28th September and 13th October 2019 three buildings (classrooms) on the Te Huruhi School site are going to be demolished. The buildings are located within the current cordon which was established for the new school construction.
The buildings contain Asbestos material in the cladding. Decmil have established safety procedures for the removal of the Asbestos material, these procedures involve ongoing air monitoring. The safety plans have been reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Education.
The rest of the school buildings will be removed during the Christmas School Holidays, starting on the 16th December.
We recommend that you do not use the school grounds during these periods of time.
