The new school buildings have been delayed

posted in: News

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Yesterday we were informed by the Ministry of Education and Decmil Construction that progress on the school build has fallen behind schedule.  This means the school will not be ready for the beginning of the 2020 school year.  The new completion date is the 9th April which is the end of Term 1 2020. We are extremely disappointed with this delay but we will continue to do our best for your tamariki in this current situation.

These delays have been caused by continual fallout from Stanley Group going into receivership and the weather.

The Board of Trustees and Staff are investigating the implications of this change and altering our plans accordingly for next year.  As we are no longer moving into the new school Te Huruhi School will remain open for instruction until 12:10pm on Wednesday 18th December 2019 as initially advertised.  We fully understand if you have already made alternative arrangements for this week and your child is away.  If this is the case, please let the office know.

Key dates for the rest of this year:

  • 9th to 11th December Year 5 and 6 Camp
  • Friday 6th December Nga Purapura Akoranga Graduation Assembly
  • Friday 13th December Year 6 Graduation Assembly
  • Wednesday 18th December Last day of Term

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
