Yahoo, it is the spring term, weather wise it certainly feels like we have turned a corner. We are looking forward to sunny days becoming the norm. The days are getting longer and warmer, everything and everyone seems lighter, happier and has a bounce in their step.
Alex has spent the holidays working on the swimming pool. Yesterday he said the pool was a balmy 27 degrees. We are hoping that the pool will be open by the end of this week. Each class will be allocated a couple of swimming slots for each week. The classroom teachers will share this information with their tamariki and whanau once the pool is officially open.
The teachers have been busy preparing for the term with a number of exciting events and learning opportunities including crazy hat day, graduation assemblies, trips for new students to the marae, vertical team fun days. This term our over arching topic theme is ‘Keeping Ourselves Safe’. This will be explored in a variety of ways in each classroom. For PE tamariki will take part in swimming and gymnastics.
The spring weather means that we can often have 4 seasons in one day. This means that children are always stripping off clothing as they become hot and sweaty during active play. At the end of each term we always have huge amounts of lost property because it is impossible to identify the owner due to items not being named. Please take the time to name your child’s clothing especially jackets, jumpers, shoes and garments that are likely to be removed to reduce body heat.
Over the holidays work has progressed on the school fields. You can now see the layout of the playing space that will be available and the big pile of dirt behind the Moana block is slowly getting smaller as it is being spread on the field as top soil. Wishful thinking is that the fields will be finished by the end of the term.
We are all looking forward to 2021 a school year with no building work 🙂
I hope everyone has a great Term 4.
