Wickedly awesome “Book Week!”

posted in: News

In week 1 we are excited to be hosting a book week to kick start our performing arts term

We will begin week 1 with a pōwhiri where we will welcome any members of our new whānau.  This will be at 9.00am on Monday 26th July in the school hall.

After this, the book week officially begins….

The theme of the week is Positive Superheroes  (real or fictional)

There will be plenty of book related activities throughout the week in all of the classes and some activities happening school wide. Teachers will introduce book week on Monday with writing competitions for various year groups and a raft of activities.

We will have some of our local authors visiting during the week to read their stories and answer questions.

We have a book fair in the library (open Monday – Friday before and after school).  Classes will get to visit to view too, where you will be able to buy books.

For each book we sell we will get a percentage of funding back so we can buy more books for the library.  You may even feel like purchasing a book to donate to the school too!

On the Friday 30th July, we will have a themed book character dress up day where your child can dress as a POSITIVE super hero of their choice; REAL OR FICTIONAL.

We will have a procession with all of the book character dressups at 8.50am on Friday 30th that will end up in the hall and of course there will be some spot prizes for awesome costumes.

Plenty more will be happening in each room, but we hope the children will be able to use the holidays, especially the rainy days to research, design and create their positive super hero character.

Go on! Have some fun getting ready for book week.

Have a great holiday and see you next term.
