Te Huruhi Primary School is a long established (1986) contributing decile 6 school for students from year 1 to year 6. It is set in one of the most attractive environments in Aotearoa, New Zealand, bordering Huruhi Bay on Waiheke Island. The school has ocean views, large playgrounds, a solar heated swimming pool, and an all purpose hall within attractive landscaped grounds.
Te Huruhi Primary School is an integral part of the Waiheke community hosting events in the school hall, offering the swimming pool to the public during the summer months, and building strong links with Piritahi Marae, Early Childhood Centres, and other schools on the island.
We are proud of our students, their expectations of high standards in both conduct and appearance as well as their commitment to consistently producing their best efforts in all social, sporting, cultural, environmental and academic activities. Our staff are committed to providing excellence in all areas of student learning.
Our school is part of the Environmental Schools Programme and the students take great pride in caring for their school environment and that of the island they live on. Te Huruhi School has a Māori/English Bilingual unit which includes year 1-6 tamariki.
Our school is well supported by a strong parent community and an active parent group, who work closely with the school in supporting and nurturing our children. They organise and run school events including dances and fundraising activities. They also support school trips, camps and sports events.
We are a long established (1986) contributing school for students from year 1 to year 6. Te Huruhi School has no zoning boundaries and are able to accept enrollments from students living anywhere on the island. Our roll sits between 300-400 students.
