Nga Toa Kahukura – The Rainbow Warriors

Welcome to the Rainbow Warriors (room 1a)!

Our Teachers:

We would like to introduce ourselves to those parents who may not know us.  We are Lisa Holmes and Mickala Venn. We are super excited to have the privilege of teaching and learning with your child this year.   We have a few notices which will hopefully make the transition into the school year go smoothly for us all.

Our class has their own blog and it can be found at https://ngatk.blogspot.com/

Stationery

We have set up some boxes at the back of the classroom.  We would really appreciate it if you and your child could unpack your stationery into the corresponding boxes and sign the sheet.

Swimming

Our swim days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Please remind your child to bring named togs, towel, wet bag and goggles if required.

Hats

It is compulsory for all children to wear a wide-brimmed hat. Please encourage them to put a named hat in their bag every day.

Bus

If your child is taking the bus this term, please could you let us know by email so that we can put it in our bus folder.  If there is ever a change to your child’s bus routine, you will need to contact the office.  Please do not email changes to us as we don’t always check our emails through the day or we may be away from school/on release.

Book bag

We purposely didn’t put a book bag on the stationery list this year (to try and reduce plastic and cost to you).  Hopefully you still have last year’s.  If you need a new one, please could you purchase one.  The children will be reading from day one, so please remind them to bring it on Monday.

Medical requirements

If your child needs medication at school, this has to be given to Kerry on Monday where she will place it in the sick bay cupboard.

Board games

To reduce playground congestion, with the removal of the backfield, the school is running a lunchtime activity programme this year.  One club that our class is responsible for is indoor board games.  If you have any fun games that you no longer require, we would really appreciate it if you could donate them for the club.

Please ask if you have any questions, otherwise, we look forward to warmly welcoming you to our class on Monday.
